The Lost Purse

One morning Maya was walking to school. It was cold, and the street was almost empty. Near the bus stop she saw something brown on the ground. It was a purse. Maya picked it up and opened it. Inside she found a lot of money and a photo of a family.

Maya stood on the street for a long time. Her family was poor. Her mother worked in a shop, and her father was ill that year. This money was enough for food for two months. But Maya looked at the photo again, and she thought about the family in it.

Then she saw a name inside the purse: Aviv Cohen. Maya knew this name. Mrs. Cohen had a small shop near Maya’s house. Maya decided to return the purse before school. She walked to Mrs. Cohen’s shop and gave it back.

Mrs. Cohen was very happy and very surprised. She said thank you many times. She said, "You did the right thing." A week later Mrs. Cohen came to Maya’s house. She offered Maya a job in her shop, two afternoons a week. Maya took the job, and she felt proud. That morning she learned that a good choice can bring good things.
